Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis spectrophotometer represents a paradigm shift within the field of UV-Vis Molecular Spectroscopy. The instrument is one of Agilent’s new solutions that will predominantly be used in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and life sciences segments. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis is a multiple temperature zoned UV-Vis solution that can run up to four different experiments, across eight cuvette positions at the same time. The implementation of innovative technologies including an air cooling UV-Vis system and a xenon flash lamp, optimizes the performance and cost of ownership of the instrument. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis will streamline the user’s experimental design.
Watch the video below for a presentation of the Aglient Cary 3500.
Features of the Agilent Cary 3500 include:
Air cooling system
- The exceptional air-cooling feature of the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis eliminates the need for a water re-circulator, messy plumbing, and associated maintenance.
Xenon flash lamp technology
- The 250 Hz xenon flash lamp of the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis allows measurements of samples that absorb up to 99.999% light.
Simultaneously measurements of multiple cells
- The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis comprises eight cells, which means that up to eight samples can be measured simultaneously.
Agilent Cary 3500 with air cooling system
The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis does not require a water-cooler to control the temperature, due to the fact that it is the only spectrophotometer containing an air cooling UV-Vis system with a temperature range of 0 to 110 °C. The exceptional air-cooling feature of the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis eliminates the need for a water re-circulator, messy plumbing, and associated maintenance. The temperature control feature also enables faster temperature ramp rates, up to 30 °C/min, without affecting the data quality.
Agilent Cary 3500 with xenon flash lamp technology
The 250 Hz xenon flash lamp of the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis allows measurements of samples that absorb up to 99.999% light. This means that fewer dilutions are required, and that the number of operator errors are reduced. The xenon lamp does not only have benefits in terms of performance, but also economic benefits. The xenon flash lamp is also very long lasting, entailing fewer lamp replacements, which will lower the cost of ownership.
Agilent Cary 3500 with simultaneously measurements of multiple cells
The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis has multiple zones, which enables the user to run up to four different experiments once, at different temperatures. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis also comprises eight cells, which means that up to eight samples can be measured simultaneously, under ambient conditions if required. According to an estimation, the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis spectrophotometer will reduce analysis time from days to hours.
often data gaps are seen when moving sequential collect cell holders. The stationary cells and simultaneous collection in this instrument ensures that these data gaps are eliminated. In this way, the user can gain a deeper level of detail and confidence in the analysis.
Agilent Cary 3500 compared to other instruments
Even though the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis maintains some features of older Agilent instruments, it is still a major upgrade from previous models. The Agilent Cary 300 UV-Vis has tungsten and deuterium lamps that typically need to be replaced yearly. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis has a much smarter xenon flash lamp that typically lasts 10 years. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis is also much faster, due to the fact that it can do a full wavelength scan in less than 1 second, while it takes 4.6 seconds for the Agilent Cary 300 UV-Vis.
The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis is not only a huge upgrade from previous Agilent instruments, as it also beats its competitors on several parameters. The Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis features a wider wavelength range than the Perkin Elmer Lambda 850+ UV/Vis and is faster than the Analytik Jena Specord Plus 250 UV-Vis.
