Shimadzu UV-2600 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer

The UV-2600 highlights Shimadzu’s position as one of the world leaders in analytical instrumentation. The Shimadzu UV-2600 spectrophotometer has been developed for a wide range of research tasks. Therefore, the user can easily expand the instrument in order to suit the measurement objective. The UV-2600 achieves the lowest stray light in its class and allows the user to analyze samples with organic and inorganic compounds,  biological samples, optical materials and photovoltaics. The most important feature of UV-2600 is the ability to perform wavelength measurements up to 1400 nm. The UV-2600 is not only unique in terms of performance, as it has also been shown that the UV-2600 is more environmentally friendly than conventional models. All these features are presented in a compact, and space-saving design, with an easy-to-use software.

Features of the UV-2600 include:

  • Measurements for wavelengths up to 1400 nm
The optional ISR-2600Plus two-detector Integrating Sphere attachment extends the 185 nm - 900 nm wavelength range to 220 nm - 1400 nm, enabling the user to perform measurements within the near-infrared region.

  • Compact design and better for the environment
The power consumption of UV-2600 is only 170 VA. This corresponds to a 10% energy saving when comparing with conventional models. Furthermore, the UV-2600 takes up 28% less space than conventional models.

  • LabSolutions UV-Vis Software
The UV-2600 can be controlled by using the LabSolutions UV-Vis software. This UV control software aims for high efficiency of analysis. The simple design allows even first-time users to perform operations easily.

The user can take advantage of the optional ISR-2600Plus two-detector Integrating Sphere attachment in order to extend the 185 nm – 900 nm wavelength range to 220 nm – 1400 nm. This feature allows the user to perform measurements within the near-infrared region. The Shimadzu UV-2600 is equipped with Shimadzu’s Lo-Ray-Ligh grade diffraction grating, which achieves high efficiency and low stray light levels. In addition, the UV-2600 achieves a significant noise reduction.

Shimadzu UV-2600 with a compact design and less power consumption

The power consumption of the Shimadzu UV-2600 is only 170 VA. The power consumption of conventional models is 190 VA, so this corresponds to a 10% energy saving, making the UV-2600 more environmentally friendly.

The UV-2600 has not only been optimized in terms of energy saving. The instrument is only 400 mm wide and 600 mm deep. Conventional models are 570 mm wide and 660 mm deep, so this corresponds to a 28% size down, making the UV-2600 better suitable for installation in tight spaces. Furthermore, the cooling fan is built into the side of the instrument, so that the spectrophotometer can be pushed all the way back to the wall, in order to use less bench space.

Shimadzu UV-2600 compared to other instruments

Even though the UV-2600 maintains some features of older  Shimadzu instruments, it is still a major upgrade from previous models. In comparison with Shimadzu UV-2450 UV-Vis, the size has decreased by 28%. Furthermore, the Shimadzu UV-2450 can only measure wavelength up to 1100 nm, while the Shimadzu UV-2600 can measure wavelength up to 1400 nm.
